At alphaTeacher.com we believe in the impact that colorful picture materials have on students' learning. A bilingual teacher has created the Spanish materials with the English Language Learners in mind. The author understands the importance of helping children develop their first language in order to successfully make the transition into English, without loosing their native language. The materials are excellent tools for the classroom teacher, and a rich source of fun and learning for the students.

About the Author

Sandra G. Vázquez has been a bilingual elementary school teacher for twelve years. She has teaching credentials in the states of Texas and Colorado. She holds endorsements in Linguistically Different: Bilingual, Elementary Education, ESL, Spanish, and Literacy.
 
She received a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Specialty in Spanish from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1994. In 2004, she completed a Master’s degree in Social/Multicultural Foundations of Education with an emphasis in Bilingual/Elementary ESL plus an endorsement in Literacy from the University of Colorado at Boulder. That same year, she was honored with The Best Should Teach Award from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
 
For the last five years, Sandra has worked as a Reading Specialist, Bilingual Literacy Coordinator, Consultant, and Spanish Curriculum Developer for the St. Vrain Valley School District in Longmont, CO.
